Biography

Wendy Cumming-Potvin (PhD, MA, BA, Professional Teaching Certificate)  Professor/Executive Lead: Research  School of Education/College of Health and Education, Murdoch University, Western Australia  Wendy is a Professor and Executive Lead of research at Murdoch University’s School of Education. Wendy’s research highlights the intersections between literacies, social justice, educational policy and the postdigital world. From her early career as a primary school teacher to her long-standing role as a university academic, Wendy is committed to developing equitable educational communities, locally and globally. Sharing her expertise through traditional research outputs, such as books and peer reviewed journal articles, Wendy also relishes opportunities to serve educational communities. One of her latest roles involves contributing to the 2026 judging panel for Portside Review’s Human Rights Essay prize via Centre for Stories in Western Australia.

Biography

A/Prof Grace Oakley is Deputy Dean and Course Coordinator of the Master of Education at the Graduate School of Education at the University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on literacy education, digital technologies in learning, and innovative teaching practices in education, with a focus on early childhood and primary education. She has led multiple research projects teacher professional development workshops. Grace has held key leadership roles at UWA and supervises research in literacy and educational technology. She is co-author of Language, Literacy and Early Childhood Education (OUP), now in its 4th edition.
