Biography

Christine Edwards-Groves is Professor of Education, Griffith University. Christine is an experienced literacy educator and researcher who researches literacy practices, dialogic pedagogies and middle leadership. Christine is currently interested how metatalk and student-initiated talk form a critical feature of generating a dialogic sensibility. Her recent co-authored publications include "Becoming a meaning making: Talk and Interaction in the dialogic classroom" (2017); "Transition and continuity in school literacy development" (2021); "Dialogic pedagogies" (2021); "The Importance of Metatalk for Establishing Dialogue in the First Years of Schooling" (2025); "The Dialogic Classroom: International research on dialogue, pedagogy and change" (2025).

She is dedicated to supporting EALD learners in our school and community and supports teachers to create culturally informed learning spaces. Hannah enthusiastically leads students from K - 6 through spontaneous, guided and personal inquiries designed to support the delivery of a playful and sophisticated education.

Biography

Lauren Hinton BEd, MAppLing, is an experienced primary years classroom teacher with a special interest in student-centred literacy learning practices. Lauren is currently a PhD Candidate with Griffith University, where her research focusses on the role of student-student dialogue on the accomplishment of small group work during English lessons in the middle primary years classroom. Lauren is an active member of ADEN – the Australasian Dialogic Education Network and Griff LinC – a Griffith University research group focussed on “Literacy in Context”.

Biography

Frances Hoyte is a researcher and lecturer in the School of Education and Professional Studies, Griffith University. She teaches courses on language and literacy development in early childhood and the early school years. Her research interests focus on children’s language and literacy development and pedagogies for teaching the English Curriculum. Frances has extensive experience in school education, working as a teacher, curriculum leader and researcher in rural and regional settings and in suburban schools marked by cultural diversity and socio-economic disadvantage. She is the current President of the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association Meanjin (Brisbane +) Local Council.
