Biography

Chris Gusenzow has more than 16 years’ experience in the Waste Management & Industrial Services industry across Western Australia. Chris has been heavily involved in all aspects of the waste and recycling industry with a strong focus on resource recovery. As a qualified accountant, Chris has used his skills of managing, maintaining and improving the businesses’ through organic growth, acquisitions and operational efficiencies.

Therese Manning

Biography

Therese Manning has more than 30 years of experience in human health and ecological risk assessment with the NSW EPA and as a consultant with enRiskS. She has also been involved in developing guidance documents and providing training in environmental chemistry, toxicology and risk assessment. She has extensive experience in developing water quality guidelines and in PFAS risk assessment. She is a fellow of the Australasian College of Toxicology and Risk Assessment (ACTRA).

Biography

Gayle Sloan started as CEO of the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia in November 2016. She is a passionate advocate for the sector, determined to have it recognized as the essential industry that it is nationally, ensuring that it is recognized as vital to not just the Australian environment, but also the ensuring the economic and social value of the material we manage is both recognised and realised. Gayle has a Law/ Arts Degree from the University of Adelaide. She developed her skills and knowledge about this essential industry, over the previous 15 years, whilst working as a Director at NSW councils and as a manager within Visy Recycling.

Adrian Wiley

Biography

Adrian Wiley is the Executive Director, Circular Economy at the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER) in Western Australia. Adrian has been leading the Circular Economy team since late 2022, delivering policy advice to government and supporting the Waste Authority to implement the WA Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030. Adrian also oversees the delivery of significant programs and initiatives, including WA’s Plan for Plastics and Container Deposit Scheme. Previously Adrian has led teams responsible for environmental regulation, regulatory reform, and policy development and implementation. He brings a strong foundation and knowledge in regulation, policy development and government decision making, having served as a policy advisor to four separate Ministers across both Liberal-National and Labor state governments. Adrian holds tertiary qualifications in Environmental Biology and Politics.

Alison Xamon

Biography

Alison Xamon is the Mayor of the City of Vincent and a Councillor with the Mindarie Regional Council. Alison is a lawyer and a former State member of Parliament with a particular interest in environmental protection, the creation of a circular economy and the role of Local Government in addressing the impacts of Climate Change.
